The Green Collection Brings More than 50 of World's Rarest Biblical Texts & Artifacts to Tulsa

Exhibit: Conference & Banquet Center - Mabee Center South Lobby Lecture: Mabee Center West Mezzanine
Wednesday, January 30 - Saturday, February 2 • 10 AM - 8 PM

Many Oklahoman’s have heard of The Green Collection, the world’s largest private collection of rare biblical texts and artifacts. The ever-growing, non-sectarian compilation of more than 40,000 biblical antiquities is named for the Oklahoma City-based family who founded national arts and crafts retailer Hobby Lobby.

On Jan. 30 – Feb. 2, Oral Roberts University is hosting a free exhibit featuring more than 50 select items in the internationally-known collection. These artifacts are of great historical and biblical significance and will give Tulsans of all interests a free look at the history of the Bible-a book that has altered history, shaped culture, inspired minds and changed lives.

The collection “has created a buzz” (FOXNews.com, 2011) and is “a sampler of Jewish, Roman Catholic and Protestant treasures” (USA Today, 2011). Hobby Lobby President Steve Green oversees the expansion and outreach of the collection and serves as chairman of the board for an eventual national Bible museum that takes a scholarly approach to the Bible. The national museum also will house the Green Scholars Initiative (GreenScholarsInitiative.org), which brings together established and young scholars to pioneer groundbreaking research on items in the collection. The Green Collection’s online newsroom is available at DeMossNews.com/GreenCollection.
