Biography
Neil Leslie Diamond was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 24, 1941. Diamond got his first guitar at the age of 16 and was convinced that songwriting was his destiny by age 17. After dropping out of college and many years of songwriting for other musicians, Neil finally got his big break in 1966. The Monkey’s version of “I’m a Believer” became the biggest song of the year. In 1968, Diamond released “Sweet Caroline” which was what propelled him to solo stardom.
Neil has had 56 singles on Billboard Top 100 and 48 albums on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums list. Today, Diamond is still touring and songwriting.
