Biography
Made popular by their southern gospel sound, the Oak Ridge Boys made a cross over into country music in the mid-1970s. Originally known as the Oak Ridge Quartet, they got their start performing for staff and families at a nuclear research facility near Knoxville, Tennessee. In the mid-1970s, the Oak Ridge Boys made their transition to country music. Around the same time, they made their first appearance at the Mabee Center. That first performance included songs from Elvira to Bobbie Sue and even “American Made.”
The Oak Ridge Boys are winners of Grammy, Dove, CMA and AMCawards. Group members: Duane Allen, Joe Bonsall, William Lee Golden, and Richard Sterban. This Oak Ridge Boy clan has been together since 1973 and they continue to perform and record to this day.
