Biography
Alabama was started in the late 60’s by cousins Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry and mutual friend, Jeff Cook. These southern boys left their comfortable homes of Fort Payne and Lookout Mountain to start playing in clubs full time in South Carolina during the 1970’s. By the 1980’s they were signed by RCA records and started attracting a younger audience to country music.
After 30 years of touring, writing, and singing, the group has accumulated 21 Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum records along with over 150 industry awards. They have earned 8 country music “Entertainer of the Year” honors, 2 Grammy’s, and their own “Hollywood Walk of Fame” star. One of their most recent chart topping projects, “Old Alabama” by Brad Paisley, has worked to re-energize their fan base and gather them a new following.
