Biography
Lionel Brockman Richie, Jr. was born on June 20, 1949 in Tuskegee. Alabama. Before becoming a solo artist in 1982, Richie was the manager of the Commodores. Richie was raised on the Tuskegee Institute campus, signed to play tennis immediately following high school and earned a degree in economics.
In the mid-80s, Richie was well known for many chart topping songs like “Hello”, “All Night Long”, “Stuck on You”, “Running with the Night” and “Say You, Say Me”. Today, Richie is still recording and performing. His latest album release was March 26, 2012. The country-tinged duet record is called Tuskegee. Over the years, Richie has racked up many accolades including two Grammys and an Ira Gershwin Lifetime Achievement Award.
